CAIRO: Egypt’s Ministry of Health reported five new cases of H1N1, four of which appeared in Sharqeya late Monday, brining the total number of cases in Egypt to 66.

Abdel Rahman Shahin, official spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, said that the cases in Sharqeya are children of the same family aged 3, 10, 13 and 14. They all came in contact with a H1N1 patient.

The children have been hospitalized in Cairo and are in a stable condition, according to Shahin.

The fifth case is a 48-year-old Egyptian woman who arrived to Alexandria on June 25 from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah, the smaller pilgrimage.

On Tuesday, Shahin said that two more cases have recovered raising the total number of recovered cases to 38, while the rest are undergoing treatment.

By press time, no deaths were reported.

Shahin said 111 suspected cases all tested negative for H1N1 in 11 governorates including Cairo, Sharqeya, Red Sea, Giza, Luxor, Helwan, Beni Suef, Gharbeya, Daqahleya, Minya and Menufiya.
