The Ahmed Shawky Museum is celebrating the pioneers of art and literature who lived at the time of the great poet. With the support of Salah El Melegy, the head of the Fine Arts Sector in the Ministry of Culture, the museum is preparing a grand celebration to be held in the memory of singer Mohamed Abdel Wahab’s birthday.
Critic and poet Basheer A’yaad will introduce the audience to the world of Abdel Wahab during a lecture about the great singer, which will include a discussion of Abdel Wahab’s life, his art and his relationship with generational poet Ahmed Shawky.
After the lecture, singer Ashraf will sing Abdel Wahab’s greatest hits. The celebration is set to begin at 7pm on Wednesday 13 March and is organised by Ahmed Fekry, the museum manager and curated by poet Ali Omran.
