At least three were killed and ten injured in the latest episode of Sinai violence after assailants intensified their attacks on security in North Sinai.

Mohamed Eid Fouad, part of the security personnel guarding Al-Arish police station was killed by a sniper shot on Monday; Mohamed Shalaby Ali, a police conscript, was killed while on duty at the civil defence and fire department in Al-Arish.

The police station in Al-Arish was attacked again early on Tuesday.

An attack on the central security department in Rafah, also on Monday, resulted in the death of Ahmed Al-Sayed Fahmy; ten conscripts were injured when assailants used mortar shells, heavy weapons and live bullets, according to the Ministry of Interior (MOI).

Ibrahim Saleh Mohamed, a conscript, was severely injured in an attack on Sheikh Zuweid police station; Ahmed Abo Deraa, a Sinai activist and journalist, said Mohamed died late on Monday.

The ministry expressed condolences for the dead personnel and announced that it was intensifying efforts to locate the assailants and arrest them.

Four gunmen were arrested by security in North Sinai on Monday; security surrounded them at a checkpoint near Al-Arish International Airport.

In a separate development, seven Sudanese citizens tried to cross the Egyptian borders illegally into Israel south of Kerm Abu Salem Border Crossing in Central Sinai; they were arrested and referred to the authorities.
