Former MB member to meet with Mansour advisor

Presidential media advisor Ahmed El-Moslimany will meet with youth leaders this week

Ahmed El-Moslimany, media advisor to interim president Adly Mansour, will meet with  ex-Muslim Brotherhood leaders this week, reported state-run Al-Ahram.

The meeting will bring together El-Moslimany, 20 former members of Muslim Brotherhood Youth, and several more senior leaders including renowned attorney Tharwat El-Kharbawi, former member of parliament Mokhtar Nouh, former Muslim Brotherhood spokesman  Kamal El-Helbawi, and former Muslim Brotherhood website editor Abdel Galil El-Sharnoubi.

“The aim of this meeting is to hear those youth, as we have earlier heard the point of views and opinions of many political factions,” El-Moslimany told Al-Ahram.

According to Al-Ahram, more influential Islamist groups, including Youth Against the Coup, declined to participate in the meeting with El-Moslimany.

El-Moslimany was appointed media advisor to the interim president on 6 July after Morsi’s government was toppled.

The Muslim Brotherhood has faced a series of government crackdowns against members since Morsi’s 3 July ouster. Many of the Brotherhood’s top leaders are facing charges on a variety of allegations, including murder, attempted murder, inciting violence and the possession of explosives and automatic weapons.
