Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour announced a training programme organised by Egypt’s Kaizen Center with the cooperation of a Japanese specialist working at Toyota, according to a Thursday statement by the ministry.

The training, designed to increase the speed of industrial processes such as changing molds and setting up machinery for metal and plastic industries, is set to take place between 27 and 30 January.

The Kaizen Center was established in 2006 in cooperation with the Japanese Industrial Cooperation Agency (JICA) in order to improve industrial quality in Egyptian factories with Japanese technical assistance. Kaizen is a Japanese term for continuous improvement, and is often used in an industrial context.

Abdel Nour added that a comprehensive program for enhancing the quality and performance of Egyptian industries will take place within the next few days, to be implemented by the Industrial Council for Technology and Innovation, an affiliate of the Ministry of Cooperation, in cooperation with JICA.

He added that this training could boost the speed of the aforementioned processes by 70%, leading to a boost in overall productivity and a potential reduction in prices, in addition to an increase in the domestic and foreign competitiveness of these industries.
