The Egyptian Embassy in Seoul organised a seminar, in coordination with Korean Telecommunication Technology Association (KTTA), which involves the largest gathering of businessmen in South Korea, to introduce them to the Egyptian economy and investment opportunities in Egypt, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

The seminar was attended by 54 Korean companies, notably Hyundai, Samsung, Daewoo, Hi Steel and GS for construction.

Egyptian ambassador in Seoul Hany Selim gave a presentation titled “The economic and political situation in Egypt and the prospects of cooperation with South Korea”, which addressed the political situation in Egypt, the roadmap and sectors that should be prioritised for investment.

Egypt’s trade representative in Seoul provided a brief introduction on the relations between Egypt and South Korea in the investment and trade sectors, which include the development of the Suez Canal waterway and nuclear power plant in Dabaa.

The ministry spokesman could not be reached for information regarding the development project.

A number of the companies that attended the seminar expressed their keenness to be present in the Egyptian investment market and implement some of the government projects which would help them to expand to the Middle East and Africa.

Korean company Samsung expressed an interest in the projects relating to petrochemical industries and transpiration. Daewoo also expressed an interest in renewable resources projects.
