Scottish trade mission visits Cairo and Alexandria

The delegation is comprised of eight companies considering potential projects in the energy sector, the British embassy in Cairo says

A trade mission of eight Scottish companies, lead by Scottish Development International, will visit Cairo and Alexandria in co-operation with the British Embassy in Cairo, the British Consulate General in Alexandria and the Egyptian Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the British Embassy in Cairo said Tuesday.

“The trade delegation comprises 8 Scottish companies, mostly from the energy sector, and is led by Dr Abdel Hadi Fawzi, Senior Executive for the Middle East and North Africa at Scottish Development International,” the British embassy in Cairo’s statement said, adding: “Dr Fawzi is a regular visitor to Egypt, and led a similar trade mission in March 2013.”

The visit is scheduled to take place between 10 and 15 May and aims to explore potential business opportunities in the Egyptian market, particularly the energy and engineering sectors.

In January, a British trade delegation visited Egypt to study possible cooperation opportunities in the Suez Canal Project. The delegation is comprised of Tim Flair, the director of the trade office in London; Rod Griffin, expert in project management of Britain’s giant projects and representatives from the United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI) department at the British embassy.
