Shoukry meets Saudi counterpart in Paris during European Tour

The tour will include several ministerial meetings

Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry met with the Saudi Arabian counterpart Mohamed Faisal during his transit Paris, this afternoon. The visit comes as Shoukry travels to Denmark to start a European tour.

Shoukry told a reporter from state run agency MENA in Paris, that they both discussed several regional and international issues of common interest, in the context of the current events in the Middle East especially in conflict zones such as Palestine, Syria and Iraq.

He added that they discussed bilateral cooperation in several fields including the economy in light of the upcoming economic summit that Egypt will host next March.

The Egyptian European Tour will continue to the cities of London and Copenhagen. It will include meetings with US Secretary of State John Kerry, to discuss potential of resuming peace talks between Israel and Palestine, and Gaza reconstruction. Shoukry also told MENA that he will give a speech in the next Ministerial Partnership Forum, to be held in Copenhagen on 19 and 20 November.

In August, Shoukry headed to Europe to strengthen bilateral relations and economic ties with visits to Berlin, Paris and Rome. He met French President Francois Hollande and consult with Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and members of the French business community, according to a statement from the Egyptian ministry.
