A bomb explosion in the vicinity of Carrefour in Alexandria left one dead and five injured on Sunday, said Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.

Abdel Ghaffar also said a third person died as a result of Friday’s Mahalla explosion, in addition to 14 injured.

Furthermore, state media reported that an explosive device went off Saturday evening in Tanta’s train station without leaving any injuries. Another explosion reportedly occurred in Menufiya governorate.

The Ministry of Interior did not confirm nor deny these reports.

On 2 March, an explosion in front of Egypt’s High Court left two dead and nine injured in downtown Cairo.

Bomb attacks executed by militant groups have been increasing in several governorates, with the majority in Greater Cairo. Where previous attacks targeted security personnel primarily, recently public facilities, telecommunications and banks have become targets as well.
