The State Council’s High Administrative Court adjourned to 22 April  the appeal against banning Mubarak-era business tycoon Ahmed Ezz from running in the parliamentary elections.

On Sunday, the court adjourned the case to include the court’s commissioners’ report in that regard, state-run newspaper Al-Ahram reported.

In February, the Menufiya Administrative Court dismissed a previous appeal by Ezz. The court dismissed his appeal due to Ezz’s incomplete paperwork, and for his failure to supply them with his financial documents.

Ezz, a steel tycoon from the heydays of former president Hosni Mubarak, was one of the senior figures of the Mubarak regime’s National Democratic Party who were imprisoned after the 25 January Revolution.

Ezz was recently released from jail; a move that was met with criticism from activists.

The new appeal by Ezz contests the Head of the Supreme Electoral Commission (SEC), the head of Menufiya’s general elections committee, the head of the committee entitled to receive candidates applications, and the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt.
