Two officers were killed Wednesday morning in Sinai

Border guards were involved in operations in the Southern Military district that apprehended large amounts of narcotics and ammunition, and led to the arrest of two suspects.

The army said in a statement that the men were driving unlicensed vehicles which carried more than three tonnes of hashish.

In New Valley, fighting patrols confiscated more than 1,400 bullets of various kinds.

In Salloum, the army also reported arresting 56 individuals for attempting to migrate illegally.

The army spokesperson also announced the destruction of a store that contained explosive devices, located in the town of Sheikh Zuweid in North Sinai.

The statement further noted that three militants were seen as they were attempting to load a truck with explosive devices from the store. The militants escaped using a motorcycle and security personnel destroyed the store along with the truck.

The military spokesperson further posted a video on his official page that showed the vehicle being tracked from an army’s jet.

Meanwhile, two policemen were killed on Wednesday morning in a shooting in the North Sinai town of Al-Arish. According to a press release from the Ministry of Interior’s media centre, the men were targeted by assailants on a motorcycle.
