Studies show the proposed site near the military air base in Al-Shawa is appropriate for the airport

Daqahleya completed the preliminary studies for the construction of the Mansoura civil airport near the military air base in the village of Al-Shawa.

According to the results of preliminary studies prepared by the Engineering Consultants Group, the proposed site is suitable for the establishment of a civilian airport for passenger and cargo transportation.

An official source, who requested to remain anonymous, said the studies included several aspects, foremost the schematic side based on the site data analysis, engineering studies of project requirements, and preliminary estimates of the costs and plans for implementation phases of the project.

Former governor of Daqahleya, Omar Al-Shawadfi, had estimated the initial cost of the airport would be about EGP 400m.

Sources pointed out that studies have touched up on the analysis of economic activities in the areas surrounding the proposed site as part of the study of surrounding cultural development.
