Egypt strongly condemns terror attack in Ankara

28 people were killed, 61 injured in a terror attack in the Turkish capital on Wednesday

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the terror attack in Ankara, Turkey on Wednesday, in an official statement on Thursday.

Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abo Zeid mourned the victims of the attack and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

“Egypt reiterates its call to the international community to merge forces in fighting terrorism; which threatens the stability of all countries, regardless of their race.”

Twenty-eight people were killed and 61 others were injured in an explosion that hit military vehicles at an intersection in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

In response Turkey launched airstrikes against Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) forces in north Iraq on Wednesday, as officials blamed Kurds for the attack.

Diplomatic relations between Egypt and Turkey significant strained in the wake of ouster of Muslim Brotherhood regime in 2013. However, a minor improvement in relations was witnessed following the partial reconciliation between Qatar and Egypt.
