Advanced infrastructure, public transportation among required specifications for tech complexes

Technological complexes should be limited to communications and IT companies,  says Linatel-Egypt CEO

Technological complexes must be built away from population clusters provided that public transportation is provided to these areas, head of Link Egypt Yehia Tharwat said.

The locations of technological complexes should be eligible to accommodate new residential communities, Tharwat added, citing Smart Village as an example, owing to its proximity to 6th of October City and Sheikh Zayed.

Modern infrastructure should be a priority in these new complexes, including high-speed ADSL fibre-optic internet services, Tharwat said.

In contrast, the CEO of Linatel-Egypt Hamdy Al-Lithy said that technological complexes should be located in city centres. He also believes these zones should be limited to communications and information technology companies only. He, however, agreed with Tharwat that the complexes must have basic facilities as well as modern means of communication.

An official at the Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications said that the success of the technological complexes’ project relies on several factors, most importantly access to public transportation so that employees can easily get to and from work.

The official called upon the government to establish the complexes on the outskirts of cities therefore making them safer with fewer security problems.

In order to ensure stability of work and limit problems between companies and clients, especially as most companies in similar complexes operate in outsourcing, the official said that basic services and communications should be readily supplied.
