Belgian trade mission visiting Egypt aims to enhance bilateral trade

The mission concluded with a visit to the construction site of the Egyptian Grand Museum

The Trade Commission of the Embassy of Belgium in Cairo organised a Belgian trade mission to Egypt from 1 to 3 June with the aim of enhancing Egyptian-Belgian trade and creating cooperation opportunities.

The Belgian companies had three days of meetings and visits in Cairo where they held over 150 business-to-business (b to b) meetings and visits with Egyptian companies, ministries, and government authorities, including the Ministry of Electricity, Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, and Egyptian Media Production City.

The mission included meetings with a diverse set of sectors, such as construction, architecture, electricity, energy, transport, industrial equipment, iron and steel, the pharmaceutical industry, broadcasting, food production, and livestock.

This is the third Belgian trade mission to Egypt after the King Philippe’s mission in 2008. The Trade Commission at the Embassy of Belgium in Cairo also led trade missions in Egypt in October 2012 and November 2014.

Belgian Ambassador to Egypt Gilles Heyvaert hosted an Egyptian Belgian business reception for delegates at his residence where the companies had the chance to meet more than 100 Egyptian businessmen.

The mission concluded with the Belgian delegation’s visit to the new construction site of the Egyptian Grand Museum, where cooperation is taking place between the Belgian company Besix in a joint venture with Orascom.
