Thanaweyya amma results announced, 75.7% succeed

Students to start applying for universities next Thursday

The Education Ministry announced results of the pre-university thanaweyya amma secondary school exams on Sunday morning after a lengthy exam period marred by unprecedented leaks.

Education Minister El-Helaly El-Sherbiny held a press conference in the ministry’s headquarters in which he announced the results, noting that 15.88% of students recorded scores between 95-100%, while 0.3% students recorded scores between 50-55%.

In the same context, qualifying thanaweyya amma students are scheduled to start applying to universities next Thursday, state-run Akhbar Al-Youm reported.

Since the beginning of the exam season in early June, all exams have been leaked on social media, either prior to or during the exam time, although the Education Ministry denied some leaks.

The thanaweyya amma exam leaks have led to protests and put the Ministry of Education under increasing pressure, raising more and more questions about Egypt’s education system, which many are calling to change.
