Mubarak moves to his residence following recent acquittal

Recently Egypt's prosecutor general approved the release of Mubarak after he had been acquitted from charges of killing protestors

For the first time in six years, Egypt’s former president Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, who had to step down following the popular uprising known as the 25 January Revolution, was released from the Maadi military hospital, heading to his residence in the Heliopolis suburb of Cairo.

According to media statements issued by his lawyer, Mubarak left the hospital from where he witnessed numerous trials over charges of corruption and killing protesters.

Recently, Egypt’s prosecutor general, Nabil Sadek, approved the release of Mubarak from custody following his recent acquittal of charges of killing protesters.

According to the approval of Sadek, Mubarak was granted the right to be released from custody at the Maadi military hospital and move to his residence in Heliopolis.

At the beginning of March, and six years after the beginning of the 25 January Revolution, the Court of Cassation acquitted Mubarak of all charges related to killing protesters during the revolution.
