Eng. Mohamed Salem, head of medium voltage BU and manager of ABB factories at 10th of Ramadan City, said that ABB possesses an annual export capacity of $30m for Medium Voltage Instrument Transformers. This is the first MV Instrument Transformers factory of its kind in Africa and the Middle East with investment reaching $10m using 60% of its components from local resources, with an aim to export nearly 50% of its production abroad.
Salem pointed out that the company owns about 6 factories on an area of 100 thousand sqm for the manufacture of high, medium, and low voltage of electrical products and systems and electrical distribution substations employing about 1,000 employees.
ABB’s managing director for Egypt and Central Africa, Naji Jreijiri, said that ABB possesses a facility for low and medium voltage products assembly in Nasr City over a total area of 10,000 sqm in addition to a regional service centre for turbo chargers at the free zone in Suez. The company also aims at expanding its investments in the field of oil and dry transformers.
ABB Egypt seeks to provide foreign currency for the import of raw materials by increasing its export activities to several markets and aims to expand its presence in the Egyptian market by competing over a number of projects in the fields of electricity production and distribution through tenders offered by the Ministries of Electricity, Housing, and Petroleum.
