Shoukry, Laborde discuss confronting terrorism

The meeting also discussed updates of the Qatari crisis

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry discussed progresses on confronting terrorism and Egypt’s efforts in the issue with Jean-Paul Laborde, the executive director of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ahmed Abou Zaid said in a statement on Thursday.

The meeting also discussed updates of the Qatari crisis. Shoukry renewed the insistence of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain in the demands presented to Qatar as a condition to resume relations with Doha, in light of the Qatari violations of international pacts and standards, by intervening in the internal affairs of the Arab countries and hosting terror leaders, the statement read.

Shoukry stressed the necessity of standing united against terrorism supporters, pointing out that Egypt has signed 11 agreement among 19 ones to confront terrorism and about to sign the rest.

Laborde praised Egypt’s role in combating terrorism in light of its membership and heading the committee of confronting terrorism in the Security Council and the success of the Egyptian delegation in issuing an international resolution about confronting terrorism thoughts in May.
