No violations committed in electoral campaigns so far: NEC

Campaigning for presidential election started on Saturday

The National Electoral Commission (NEC), headed by Lashin Ibrahim, confirmed on Tuesday that it has not received any complaints about publicity violations, on the fourth day of campaigning for candidates for the presidential election.

The NEC has previously banned the use of government departments, public facilities, places of worship, schools, universities, and other public and private educational institutions and the headquarters of associations and civil institutions in electoral propaganda.

The commission has previously determined the electoral propaganda activities permitted by law or by decisions it issued.

Campaigning for the presidential election began on Saturday. Egyptians living in Egypt are scheduled to vote in the presidential election over three days: 26, 27, and 28 March 2018, while Egyptian living abroad will vote on 15 March 2018.

The results of the first round are to be announced by 2 April 2018. In the case that no candidate secures 50% of the votes, a run-off will take place.

On Friday, the NEC approved the final list of candidates which is incumbent President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and El-Ghad Party’s Moussa Mostafa Moussa. It further gave symbol for each, a star for Al-Sisi and an aeroplane for Moussa.
