Immigration Ministry follows up on incident, its causes

Five Egyptians died Sunday in Kuwait when two vehicles crashed. Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Nabila Makram said that the ministry is following the updates of the incident and the investigations into its causes that resulted in the death of five Egyptians.

Makram added in a statement that she has assigned her assistant for expatriates’ affairs, Samir Taha to communicate with the Egyptian consulate in Kuwait to follow up on the situation.

After finalising legal procedures, the ministry will ask the relatives of the five citizens about their desire to bury them in Egypt, so the ministry could provide the necessary arrangements.

According to Makram’s statement, the five Egyptians who died in the incident are: Fathy Mansour, Emad Mostafa, Saad Abdullah, Mahmoud Ali Tawfik, and Mohamed Ahmed Hassan. They were from the governorates of Qena and Sohag.

For its part, the Kuwait Oil Company declared in a statement that the incident happened when two vehicles carrying employees of two construction firms collided close to the Burgan oil field. The incident resulted in the death of a total of 15 people in addition to several others injured. The company added that it will investigate the incident.
