Sage emphasises importance of cloud services to support digital transformation in Egypt

Spending on cloud infrastructure products reached $46.5bn last year, says IDC

On Monday, Sage Group, a company specialised in cloud solutions, held a roundtable discussion for corporate executives to review the role of the next wave of digital technologies in helping Egyptian companies raise productivity and efficiency levels, as well as enhance their competitiveness.

The meeting was held in cooperation with International Data Corporation (IDC), titled Digital Transformation with Cloud Services, which focused on adopting cloud services as an effective tool to support companies’ abilities to innovate and grow.

According to IDC, total global spending on IT infrastructure products related to cloud systems was around $46.5bn in 2017, up by 20.9% from the prior year. The large increase in revenues from the adoption of cloud services indicates that companies are increasingly benefiting from cloud services.

“The digital transformation in Egypt is still in its infancy, but there is a clear increase in the number of companies adopting technology to become more competitive and innovative,” said Matthew Kibby, vice president for Africa and the Middle East at Sage. “In this context, corporate finance and innovation officials must work together to develop a clear roadmap and architecture to move to cloud services,” he added.

Kibby said that Egyptian companies can benefit from modern techniques to redesign the customer experience, enhance their operations, and provide new ways to achieve revenue. “Moving to the cloud and implementing a robust business management system is a step in the right direction for an effective business transformation,” he stressed.

For his part, Mansoor Sarwar, regional director of technical services and pre-sales services in the Middle East at Sage, said that the business management solutions of the next generation will help to get rid of the administrative complexities and contribute to the simplification of processes, allowing companies to grow faster.

The event was attended by more than 80 experts and individuals representing various sectors in Egypt, such as agriculture and healthcare.
