Solar companies taking advantage of increasing electricity prices in promoting their products

Discounts, payment facilities, guarantee for 25-year period

Solar companies have taken advantage of the increase in electricity prices in promoting the various offers they have following a severe recession they had suffered over the past period.

The companies launched promotional offers and innovative methods to sell heating systems and solar energy panels for irrigation and domestic consumption, and they focused on the cost of setting up stations compared to the monthly and annual revenue after the increase in electricity prices.

“If you want to cancel the effect of the bomb of electricity hikes, your solution is to use Cosmo Solar’s heater,” was a slogan used by a company that promotes installing solar heaters. The company has some 50 models imported from China, according to an official there.

Other companies followed more interesting ways to market solar panels or solar power plants, including offering a price of EGP 11,900 or a 1 hp solar-fuelled irrigation system, along with payment facilities and a guarantee for 25 years.

RGS Solar Energy has contracted with a number of recreational clubs, including Al Ahly and the Arab Contractors, to display their products, such as solar cells and heaters.

Meanwhile, Solartech, Solanell, and Candian Solar have relied on the efficiency and quality of their products and their conformity to European standards, as well as focused on the cell-making countries of origin and distinctness from other companies.

Mohamed Ali, chairperson of RGS, said his company aims to contract projects worth EGP 400m by the end of the current year and begin to provide facilities for a number of customers to encourage them to use solar energy.

He explained that the increase in electricity prices helped solar companies promote their products and systems, especially since the price of solar energy will be less than conventional energy after the full lifting of electricity subsidies.
