Egypt wins presidency of ICSB

Osman council president, Abu Elazm member for Africa, Europe

Egypt has won the presidency of the International Council for Small Businesses (ICSB) for next session 2019/2020, as Ahmed Osman managed to win the position of the president of the council, after American Geralyn Franklin, in the elections that were conducted on the side-lines of the International Conference for Small Businesses, recently held in Taiwan.

Amr Abu Elazm also became a member of the board of directors for Africa and Europe.

The elections have resulted in the winning of new members from Australia, US, Indonesia, Argentina, and Taiwan.

According to Osman, the results of the elections have shown the world’s appreciation towards Egypt’s efforts in the field of entrepreneurship, as well as small and micro enterprises, in light of the development initiatives launched by the political leadership of the country over the past period, out of the belief in the importance of these projects and their ability to achieve sustainable development and generate jobs that suit Egyptian young people.

Osman stressed that this is the first time in the history of the council since 1955 that a president is chosen from the Middle East or an Islamic country, praising the support received from the Ministries of Investment and International Cooperation, Trade and Industry, and Foreign Affairs, in addition to the Administrative Control Authority, as the support of these entities has contributed to his winning of the new position.

The ICSB was established in 1955. It is headquartered in Washington. It is the oldest organization in the world that is concerned with small businesses and entrepreneurship. It holds regular meetings, in order to exchange knowledge, as well as set policies and strategies to develop small and micro projects worldwide.
