Egypt condemns IS suicide blasts in Syria

More than 200 people killed in a series of suicide blasts, raids in southern Syria

Egypt strongly condemned on Wednesday night the terror blasts that hit the Sweida region south western Syria and resulted in killing dozens of Syrian people and wounding other dozens, whereby some of them are in a critical state, according to a statement from Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

More than 200 people were killed in a series of suicide blasts and raids in southern Syria by the Islamic State (IS) militant group, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The attack is the deadliest by IS since years.

The Syrian army supported by the Russian forces has succeeded in removing the group from most of the regions under its control in Syria last year.

Egypt sent its condolences to the relatives of the casualties and the Syrian people for the attacks. The statement also renewed assuring Egypt’s stance that calls for the necessity of countering terror groups and who supports or funds that group and provide it with the political support.

According to the statement, Egypt will continue exerting greater efforts with all Syrian parties to reach a political solution for the Syrian crisis in the frame of Geneva accord, and the resolution 2,254 of the UN Security Council.
