This came as part of ministry’s plans to develop education

A total number of 128,596 teachers are currently being trained within training programme for kindergartens and first grade students, which started on 12 August, spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Ahmed Khairy said.

This comes in the light of the directives of Minister of Education Tarek Shawky to implement the professional development programme for teachers.

Last month, during the sixth National Youth Conference, Shawky announced the programme of the new secondary education system that will replace the traditional Thanaweya Amma system in the academic year 2018/19, through cancelling the scoring system of calculating total grades and switching to a grade point average (GPA).

Training of teachers for will start in September to qualify them to be eligible for the new system, which will be applied on students in the first secondary stage.

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi previously marked 2019 as the year of education.
