Madbouly urges governors not to ignore citizens’ demands, problems

Prime minister addresses challenges in first meeting with new governors

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has called on new governors not to ignore citizens’ demands or complaints and to speed up the process of implementing stalled projects in each governate.

“If you close your doors, you will never succeed,” said Madbouly on Saturday during the first meeting with the new governors. He further urged the governors to always maintain open communication channels with citizens and parliament members.

During the meeting, Madbouly and governors addressed new cleaning systems, sanitation programmes in rural areas, stalled investment projects in all governates, and the government’s preparations for the winter season.

Furthermore, Madbouly revealed the government’s upcoming measures in solving governates’ issues and implementing stalled projects.

He asserted the citizens’ rights in witnessing positive changes regarding some issues including street cleanliness and the prevention of dumping in canals.

Earlier in August, new governors were sworn in before President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. The recent new reshuffle included the appointment of 22 new governors, with another five remaining in office.

The new list included General Khaled Abdel Hafez, Cairo’s former security director, General Ahmed Rashed Moustafa, Alaa Abdulhaleem Mohamed Marzouk, and Hesham El-Said Mohamed El-Sayed.
