Search efforts continue to find 14 missing fishermen in Suez

Two tugboats dispatched to look for lost fishing vessel after previous efforts failed

Two tugboats have been dispatched to search for a fishing vessel that disappeared on Saturday in the Gulf of Suez, according to Amr Emara, a fishermen syndicate representative in Suez.

A fishing vessel carrying 14 fishermen went missing last week. Emara said that all the previous search efforts failed to locate the missing vessel.

The search vessels will cross the Suez Canal to the Gulf of Suez and will be equipped with advanced radar and sonar devices, he noted.

The Head of the Fishermen Syndicate, Bakry Abo El-Hassan, said that the fishing boat called “Yassin Al-Zuhairi” went out to fish in the Gulf of Suez near the Zafarana area, but the owner of the fishing boat lost communication with the crew.

Abo El-Hassan pointed out that efforts are being intensified to search for any of the boat’s belongings, such as wooden tables and other objects.

The fishing boat went astray under mysterious circumstances, while some of its gear was found in the water.
