Al-Sisi heads to Germany to partake in MSC

President to review Egypt’s efforts in counterterrorism at world annual security forum

Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, heads to Munich, Germany, on Thursday to take part in the 55th edition of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2019, a presidency statement read.

The MSC, held between 15-17 February, is an annual world leading forum for debating international security policy. More than 600 high-level decision-makers across the world are expected to attend the global gathering.

Al-Sisi is set to review Egypt’s vision to reach political solutions for different crises in the Middle East, as well as his country’s efforts aimed to combat terrorism and extremism in the region, the statement added.

Additionally, the president will review his country’s strategy to enhance African efforts during the upcoming period, under the chairpersonship of Cairo.

The participators include heads of state, ministers, leading personalities of international and non-governmental organisations, high-ranking industry representatives, media, academia, and civil society representatives.

The conference aims to “debate the world’s most relevant security challenges, not just the most urgent security challenges in its programmes, but also draws attention to issues that might not yet be on the top of the security community’s agenda,” according to the MSC’s official website.
