Egypt to participate in World Tourism Forum

Al-Mashat to discuss with College of Hotel Management in Lucerne means to raise Egyptian tourism sector employees’ efficiency

The Minister of Tourism, Rania Al-Mashat announced on Tuesday that she is heading to Switzerland, to participate in the World Tourism Forum, which will take place from 2 to 3 May 2019 in Lucerne, Switzerland, under the theme ‘Human Capital in the Age of Creative Innovation.’

Noteworthy, this year’s forum will bring together over 500 participants including tourism ministries, tourism leaders, investors, and policy makers worldwide, as well as academic professors, and young entrepreneurs.

This is the sixth session of the forum, which is considered as a platform where senior decision-makers from the government, academia, and finance will participate to discuss the future of tourism challenges globally.

Al-Mashat stressed the importance of Egypt’s participation in this forum, which is considered an advantageous and important platform for exchanging experiences and common concerns toward achieving sustainable growth in the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors on a global scale.

In addition, she noted that this participation comes in line with the ministry of tourism’s vision to achieve sustainable tourism development, pointing out that Switzerland is considered as one of the most important countries famous for its tourism schools and hotel universities.

According to the minister, the forum will focus on enhancing technological innovation and digital solutions to enhance the competitiveness of the tourism sector by discussing successful models of governments and emerging companies which have adapted digital transformation in tourism.

Moreover, she asserted that the use of modern technology in tourism is one of the main pillars of the fifth axis of Egypt`s structural reform programme.

Additionally, she explained that the main objective of this programme is to promote Egypt as an environmental and sustainable development destination, and to encourage innovation and digital solutions in order to enhance the sector’s competitiveness.

During Egypt’s participation in the forum, the minister of tourism will visit the College of Hotel Management in Lucerne, which is one of the most important educational institutions in the field of hospitality and tourism in the world, to discuss means of cooperation in order to raise the efficiency of employees in the Egyptian tourism sector.
