Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashat discussed with the President of Mastercard Middle East and Africa, Raghu Malhotra, ways to boost bilateral cooperation especially in the field of digital transformation for renovating tourism using electronic applications and platforms, data analysis, and digitisation.

During the meeting held on Saturday evening, Malhotra stated that his company is keen to be part of the development witnessed in the tourism sector.

He proposed establishing an electronic application in Egypt in cooperation with the Ministry to allow the tourist to get all information and services they need upon their arrival to the country, with the aim of facilitating the trip and enriching the experience.

Meanwhile, Al-Mashat stressed the importance of technological innovation and digital solutions in enhancing the competitiveness of the tourism sector

She talked about the tourism structural reform programme that was issued by the Ministry last November aiming to develop the sector.

She continued that the digital transformation is an essential part of the fifth axis of the programme, which aims at enhancing the green tourism in Egypt, preserving the environment and digitise the tourism system in Egypt.
