WB’s board of directors to visit Egypt in January: MIC

Delegation to meet Madbouly, Al-Mashat, other senior officials, says statement

Ministry of International Cooperation (MIC) prepares a visit for the World Bank’s board of directors to Egypt in January in coordination with the WB’s office in Cairo, a Monday statement of the MIC revealed, saying that this high level visit is the first since 2014.

The visit programme includes meetings with senior Egyptian officials topped by the prime minister, Mostafa Madbouly, as well as economic group’s ministers to closely identify the updates of the economic reform programme, in addition to the governmental efforts to empower women, youth, and the private sector.

The WB’s delegation will meet with several representatives of the Egyptian private sector, the statement said, noting that the Egyptian government believes in the role of the private sector as an engine of the country’s economic growth.

The delegation will also meet Egyptian startups to know more about the ecosystem and study how to support them to achieve the sustainable development goals.

Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, will hold a meeting with the WB’s delegation to discuss the future partnership strategy.

Ahead of the WB’s visit, Al-Mashat asserted the importance of it, noting that MIC aims to deepen the partnership with the WB in the next years and achieve new successful stories, like Benban Solar Park in Aswan, which is being implemented with funds from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), affiliated to the WB.
