Government explores development of waste management in Matrouh

We’ll focus on improving health, social environment, attract more tourists, says Matrouh governor

Minister of Military Production Mohamed Al-Assar met with Governor of Matrouh Khaled Shoeib on Monday to discuss developing the governorate’s waste management system in Matrouh.

“We fully trust the capabilities of the Military Production Ministry to implement waste management projects that serve the people of Matrouh,” Shoeib said.

On 27 November, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi named 16 new governors, including Shoeib for Matrouh, who succeeded Madgi El-Ghrably.

Matrouh governorate now focuses on improving the health and social environment to attract more tourists as part of the country’s economic development plans, Shoeib said.

Both sides followed up on the projects they implement cooperatively upon their joint protocol.

Current projects include providing Matrouh with fire extinguishers, maintenance of state buildings and facilities, installing renewable and energy-saving systems, paving roads, development of stadiums and sports facilities, and establishing a bakery complex and a date packaging plant.

Al-Assar stressed his ministry’s support for Matrouh’s development needs as part of the Ministry’s policy to contribute to development projects in cooperation with other ministries, governorates, and the private sector.
