Egypt plans for structural reform of 7 promising sectors, including tourism: El-Said

European tourists constitute nearly 60% of visitor flows in Egypt during 2019, Al-Anany reveals


Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said says the Egyptian government has implemented many economic reforms with the aim restoring investor confidence and achieving sustainable growth.

The minister affirms that there is a structural reform plan for seven promising sectors, including tourism.

Egypt always targets entering new tourism markets, with a focus on middle and upper classes, El-Said says.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anany also affirms that Egypt is currently working on placing tourism back on track and returning its previous level before the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The minister says that Egypt has shown flexibility in dealing with previous crises that the country has witnessed during the past two decades.

European tourists constituted nearly 60% of visitor flows in Egypt during 2019, Al-Anany reveals.

Egypt seeks to create new tourist destinations by expanding in the establishment of museums and new cities such New Alamein, which is expected to be one of the most important resort areas in the coming years.

Egypt received nearly 2 million tourists from Germany and 1.5 million tourists from Ukraine in 2019, the minister discloses.

He says that the ministry will open important archaeological projects during the coming period, which shows the state’s interest in the tourism and antiquities sector.
