Culture Ministry to celebrate 23 July Revolution anniversary with special events

As the live events are limited this year due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the ministry will also present cultural activities via its official YouTube channel.

Egypt’s Ministry of Culture will celebrate the 23 July Revolution anniversary with special events including music concerts and 50% discount on the National Center for Translation’s publications.

As the live events are limited this year due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the ministry will also present cultural activities via its official YouTube channel.

Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem said that the 23 July Revolution features prominently in the country’s modern history. The event succeeded in embodying the dreams and aspirations of the Egyptian people.

Achieving independence, freedom, and equality, the 23 July Revolution will remain an inspiration for generations, she added.

To mark the day, Egyptian singer and actress Reham Abdelhakim will perform a concert at Cairo Opera House’s open-air Fountain Theatre, with the participation of a group of Arab singers.

The ministry will also reopen eight national museums in Cairo, including those for Gamal Abdel Nasser, Mostafa Kamel, and Taha Hussein.

Meanwhile, Alexandria’s Museum of Fine Arts will, for the first time, display a group of historical documents presenting facts on the revolution. This will be in addition to a selection of works by foreign artists who stayed in Alexandria during this time and lived through the events.

The National Center for Children’s Culture will also present “The Stories of Al-Arajouz” shows, in addition to organising art workshops.

The General Authority for Cultural Palaces is to hold a major three-day celebration, starting from 25 July, at the Al-Asmarat Culture Center’s open air theatre. The celebration will include musical concerts, the traditional Egyptian Tannoura folk dance, and a number of seminars.

The National Center for Translation will offer a 50% discount on its different publications, until the end of July.
