Subsidiaries of the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals (HoldiPharma) have increased their production of drugs, alcohol, antiseptics, and detergents to counter the novel coronavirus (COVID 19) as directed by Minister of Public Enterprises Sector Hisham Tawfik.
The companies produced 1.3m antibiotic drug packs, 14m packs of antipyretic used as anti-inflammatory medications, and 5m Vitamin C packs. This was in addition to 750,000 packs of zinc, 7.4m ampoules of anticoagulants, 150,000 packs of respiratory drugs, 100,000 packs of Vitamin D, and 260,000 packs of paediatric medicines.
In addition, the companies increased their manufacture of alcohol and disinfectants to reach 750 tonnes of medical alcohol at 70% concentration, and 1.9m packs of alcohol for personal use. This came alongside 125,000 packs of antiseptics, (with packs ranging from 60ml to 1 litre), 8 tonnes of surgical disinfectant, and 20 tonnes of chlorine in different concentrations and packs.
