A total of 38,000 patients in home-isolation due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have received Ministry of Health treatment bags between May and July, Minister of Health Hala Zayed has announced.
According to a ministry statement, a total of 36,567 of the patients are adults, and 1,761 are paediatric cases.
The total number of coronavirus treatment bags for people in contact with confirmed cases across the country reached 181,646, including 137,050 for adults and 44,596 for children.
A total of 284 medical teams at hospitals, health units and mobile health units are in charge of providing the treatment bags for cases that have gone into home isolation and those in contact with them. Preventative medicine teams have been monitoring the patients.
The bags are released after patients have undergone the required medical examinations at a hospital. Earlier in May, the Ministry of Health said that coronavirus cases with minor symptoms will be quarantined at home, and published the protocol and instructions for home self-isolation.
Bags with preventive supplies, including face masks, disinfectants, thermometers, and medicines that are part of Egypt’s treatment protocol for the coronavirus have been distributed to coronavirus patients self-isolating at home since that time.
Egypt’s total confirmed cases reached 93,356 cases on Wednesday, with 4,728 fatalities. A total of 37,025 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
