Cabinet allows open air funeral prayers, wedding ceremonies from 21 September

As part of nationwide easing of COVID-19 measures, nurseries will re-opened in clubs and youth centres, in accordance with health conditions

The National Committee for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19) will, from 21 September, ease precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), which will allow wedding ceremonies in open areas and at authorised hotels, with a maximum capacity of 300 people.

During a meeting on Monday, presided over by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the committee agreed that funeral prayers at mosques with open air halls will also be allowed to resume. This is in addition to the resumption of cultural exhibitions in open areas, at a maximum capacity of 50%, or no more than 150 participants.

The committee has also given permission for the “Welcome to School” exhibition at the Cairo International Conference Center, which is set to take place from 20 to 28 September, after the implementation of all precautionary measures.

Adult education activities will also resume, including classes to eradicate illiteracy, also with all precautionary measures in place.

The committee has also approved the return of non-Egyptian Premier League football matches, and to allow for training and recreational swimming pools to reopen, while considering all specific precautionary measures.

Nurseries will be allowed to re open at clubs and youth centres, in accordance with the health conditions and measures specified by Egypt’s Ministry of Health.
