Egypt’s House of Representatives elections conclude successfully

NEA confirms it follows all standards of integrity and transparency to ensure success of election process


The National Elections Authority (NEA) announced, on Monday, the final results of the run-off round in the second phase of the House of Representatives elections. A total of 100 candidates secured individual seats in the 2nd round of the elections.

NEA said that the candidates who won in the run-offs are distributed as follows: 7 seats in Cairo, 1 seat in Port Said, 2 seats in Suez, 4 seats in Damietta, 21 seats in Daqahlia, 21 seats in Sharqiyia, 1 seat in Qalubiya, 10 seats in Kafr El-Sheikh, 14 seats in Gharbiya, 11 seats in Menoufiya, 5 seats in Ismailia, 2 seats in North Sinai, and 1 seat in South Sinai.

NEA confirmed that it followed all standards of integrity and transparency to ensure the success of the election process in accordance with the provisions of the law and international standards.

The authority also added that all the reports issued by local and international civil society organizations that followed the elections praised the role of the NEA, whether in polling stations or the counting process which was carried out under full judicial supervision. No major violations that would affect the integrity of the electoral process have been detected.

On 16 November, NEA announced the second phase of the House of Representatives elections has witnessed 29.5% voter turnout.

The electoral list led by pro-government Mostaqbal Watan Party has won the majority of votes in the second phase.
