Egyptian Civilization Museum gears to receive royal mummies

Tourism Promotion Board will start advertising campaign for transfer of royal mummies

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization has held a board meeting, to discuss the final preparations for receiving the parade of royal mummies during the upcoming period.

The meeting was headed by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anani, and was held at the museum’s headquarters in the Fustat area of Cairo.

During the meeting, the Board members agreed that the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board (ETPB) will start the promotional campaign for the transfer of the royal mummies, which was prepared in advance with the museum.

El-Anani also directed that museum trustees undertake free guided tours for Egyptian visitors and school trips inside the museum’s central exhibition hall after its opening.

There will be an emphasis on the commitment to apply all precautionary measures and health safety controls against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), which are being applied at all museums and archaeological sites.

This takes into account social distancing during visits, and ensuring the maximum number per visit is taken into account.

The list of all types of photography in the museum was also approved, according to the Supreme Council of Antiquities.

The Museum’s Board has also agreed to allow representatives from Egyptian, Arab and international media outlets to take photos for free inside the central exhibition hall for two days after the opening.
