The third annual Hapi Conference will launch in Cairo, on Monday, under the title “Investing in Recovery…What’s Beyond the Resilience of the Egyptian Economy in the Face of the Corona Pandemic”.
Taking part in and speaking during the conference are: Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development; Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance; Hisham Tawfik, Minister of Public Enterprise Sector; and Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry.
The conference will witness live press interviews with businesspeople Naguib Sawiris, Chairperson of Orascom Investment Holding Company, and Mohamed Farid, Chairperson of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX).
The conference activities include three discussion sessions. The first will discuss the opportunities available for the private sector to benefit from the important projects and initiatives launched in Egypt, especially during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
It will also focus on strategic projects in the infrastructure, agriculture, water, energy, industry, real estate, and finance sectors. This is in addition to the conference discussing growth opportunities for local and foreign private investments. Ayman Soliman, CEO of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE), will participate in the session.
The opening session will be followed by a videotaped presentation by Mahmoud Mohieldin, Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and a member of its Board of Directors, representing Egypt and the Arab region.
The second session will discuss the financing channels available for the development of companies’ business, whether related to existing initiatives or new required ones, as well as the various tools the non-banking financing activity has.
The third session will include several aspects to discuss exploring opportunities for cross-border growth. This is in addition to shedding light on the investment movement during the pandemic, and the various local, regional, and global expansion opportunities.
