Egypt jumps 5 places on Inclusive Internet index 2021: IDSC

Egypt now ranks 73rd out of 120 countries on international index

The Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) has revealed that the country jumped five places to 73rd out of 120 countries on the Inclusive Internet index for 2021.

The centre reviewed Egypt’s progress in the index, issued by the Economist Intelligence Unit. It found that Egypt is still continuing its path towards technological development and the implementation of digital transformation plans.

The 2021 jump, which reflects the country’s efforts in this regard, compares to the ranking of 78th Egypt achieved in 2020.

It ranked in 4th place in Africa, after South Africa, Morocco, and Kenya, respectively, thanks to its remarkable progress in the local e-content relevancy category, having jumped 12 places in the Relevance category.

The index provides a rigorous benchmark of national-level internet inclusion in 120 countries across four categories: Availability; Affordability; Relevance; and Readiness.
