Egypt participates in 38th regular African Development Agency summit

The summit was chaired by Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and coincided with the celebrations for Africa Day.

Egypt has participated in the 38th Regular Summit of the African Union Development Agency NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD), which was attended online by Heads of State and Government.

The summit was chaired by Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and coincided with the celebrations for Africa Day.

It discussed the agency’s work in light of the great challenges Africa faces, and the negative economic impacts of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Egyptian delegation’s participation confirmed the country’s keenness to have an effective and active presence in African forums, especially since it is one of the agency’s five founding countries.

The meeting reviewed the executive position on development projects the agency is currently implementing in various fields.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is taking the lead, at the level of the African Union (AU), in a number of regional projects that the African Development Agency is implementing

At the forefront of these projects is the marine link project between Lake Victoria, which lies mainly in Tanzania and Uganda, and the Mediterranean Sea, and the electrical connection between African countries.
