Egypt’s Health Ministry starts issuing accredited COVID-19 vaccination certificates

Each certificate costs fee of EGP 100 for Egyptians, $10 for non-Egyptians

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed announced, on Saturday, that the country will start issuing accredited certificates for those who have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The certificates can be obtained through 126 offices nationwide, with each certificate costing a fee of EGP 100 for Egyptians and $10 for non-Egyptians, according to a ministry statement.

These certificates will be insured from the Smart Insured Publications Complex, and hold a QR Code which allows for electronic scanning by mobile. It will show the certificate holder’s data, photo, and status of receiving the vaccine.

Moreover, the Ministry of Health and Population is working on finalising the “Egypt Health Passport” application in two versions, for Android and iPhone, and which will serve as an electronic health passport.

These can be used at airports, where the traveller enters their data on the application which identifies the vaccination certificate with the approved COVID-19 vaccine.

It also shows the vaccination position through a traffic light colour system of: red if the person did not receive the vaccine; yellow if the person received a first dose of the vaccine; and green if the person received two doses of the vaccine.
