Egypt receives 1.76 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine

Total of 40 million doses expected to arrive Egypt under COVAX initiative

Egypt has received a new shipment of coronavirus vaccine, AstraZeneca, comprising about 1.766 million doses, out of a total of 40 million doses that have been agreed upon.

The shipment will be tested at the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) labs before being distributed over vacation centres. 

Last Monday, Egypt received 525 million doses as part of a tripartite with Romania and AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical Company. More doses will arrive in the coming period. 

Egypt has recently received millions of doses of the Sinopharm, Sinovac, Sputnik, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

The Health Ministry confirmed that all Coronavirus vaccines will be provided free of charge, whether for Egyptians or non-Egyptians residing in the country or wishing to travel.

However, those wishing to obtain a vaccination certificate for travel shall pay an administrative fee of EGP 250. Meanwhile, a local vaccine certificate will cost EGP 100.
