Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed, on Wednesday, the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) to support mechanisation and digital transformation projects in the EDA.
The protocol was signed at the cabinet headquarters by Ghada Labib, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Institutional Development Affairs, and Ayman El Khatib, Vice President of the Egyptian Drug Authority.
Amr Talaat, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Tamer Essam, Chief of the Egyptian Drug Authority witnessed the signing as well.
The protocol aims to prepare, coordinate and mobilise efforts to provide technological and information support to the EDA, to serve its central departments, and contribute to the implementation of plans to develop and update information systems in the field of medicine.
This came within the framework of the Egyptian government’s endeavour to implement the sustainable development strategy “Egypt Vision 2030.” As well as the national project for digital transformation, benefiting from the active role of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in enhancing the information capacity of government agencies.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, confirmed that his ministry will provide technical advice and support, starting with selecting the implementing partners for the projects and reviewing technical and financial offers.
Moreover, the ministry will also support in the selection and preparation of technical cadres, by organising training courses for specialists working in the information technology system and digital transformation in the EDA.
For his part, Tamer Essam, Chief of EDA, confirmed that the authority is committed, -according to the protocol- to bear all the financial burdens related to contracting with companies executing projects, as well as the financial burdens related to providing the hosting environment, connection lines, devices, maintenance and operation contracts.
