Chinese ride sharing app Didi Chuxing Technology Company has announced the launch of its services in the Egyptian market. The company will start its operations in Alexandria on 13 September.

The company said, in a press release on Sunday, that it will offer a welcome package worth EGP 150 that includes discount vouchers for new users, besides free trips worth EGP 25 each every Thursday for 4 weeks to its customers. The application also offers a referral programme with a discount voucher worth EGP 25 for each successful invitation.

The company said that it will not get any fees from drivers during the first four weeks of operation, with drivers being given a financial reward when completing 10 trips during the first week of registration. The driver also gets a reward of EGP 25 for each successful new user invitation in addition to a progressive reward system.

The company said that the launch of its services in the Middle East started from Egypt through Waslni and Waslni Plus.

DiDi is world-renowned as a leader in taxi booking and intelligent transportation services that provides safe and affordable rides. DiDi connects drivers with users to reach their destination through comfortable journeys and a seamless transportation experience.

Lin Ma, General Manager of DiDi for Africa, said that Egypt is a huge market with great opportunities for technology. The launch of DD services in Alexandria highlights the start of the platform’s operations in Egypt.

Ma stressed that DiDi’s commitment in the near term is to adjust, improve, and enhance the platform on a daily basis according to local realities, for both passengers and drivers, and work hard to reach all the cities where people need more alternatives and entrepreneurs for better mobility.

“The launch of our service is the result of a long preparation period led by our local team, and after a successful driver registration process in Alexandria, which showed us that people want more and better transportation options in Egypt,” said Lin Ma.

The company announced that it adheres to several standards and tools to provide safety and security for the driver and captain during the trip, including:

• Emergency response team working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

• Monitoring systems during the flight

• A 24/7 customer service platform for passengers and drivers

• Dedicated emergency and distress call button available on the app for passengers and drivers

• Trusted Contacts and Journey Sharing

• Availability of passenger, driver and vehicle information for each trip.

• Facial recognition system for drivers

All trips with DiDi will be insured, covering users and drivers.
