Egypt condemns Houthi attack against Saudi Arabia

Egypt affirmed that the repeated targeting of facilities and civilians by the Houthi militia is a dangerous escalation and a threat to the security and stability of Saudi Arabia.

Egypt has condemned in the strongest terms the Houthi militia’s terrorist attack against Saudi Arabia, which targeted King Abdullah Airport last Friday with two explosive-laden drones. The attack left several Saudi injured.

Egypt affirmed that the repeated targeting of facilities and civilians by the Houthi militia is a dangerous escalation and a threat to the security and stability of Saudi Arabia. It stressed that this constitutes a clear violation of the international humanitarian law and the air navigation.

Egypt once again expresses its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the measures it is taking to confront these despicable terrorist attacks, and stresses the close link between the security and stability of the two brotherly countries.

Ten people were injured on Friday when an explosive-laden drone struck King Abdullah airport in the Saudi southern city of Jazan, the Arab Coalition said.

Six Saudis, three Bangladeshi Nationals and one Sudanese were injured, state news agency SPA reported citing the Arab Coalition spokesman.

There was also material damage to the airport and shattered windows due to the attack.

The Arab Coalition said later that it intercepted and destroyed a second drone which was targeting the airport. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

However, since January, Yemen’s Houthis have ramped up their attacks on the Kingdom and launched dozens of cross-border aerial attacks on Saudi Arabia.

The Iran-backed militia targeted civilian areas and energy facilities in the Kingdom with explosive-laden drones and ballistic missiles.
