A statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Ahmed Hafez, said the two ministers praised Egypt-UK cooperation during the phone call. He also mentioned the importance of further enhancing the cooperation to achieve the interests of the two countries.
During the telephone discussions, Shoukry emphasised Egypt’s desire for stability in Lebanon, the ministry statement said. The ministers also discussed issues of mutual interest and bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the discussions, which took place via telephone, the two foreign ministers talked on the measures taken by both countries to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ahmed Hafez said Issoufou hailed Egypt’s efforts in GERD negotiations, as the meeting tackled Egypt’s attempts to reach a fair agreement that achieve the interests of the three concerned countries (Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia).

Ethiopia had announced that it would continue to build the dam and fill its reservoir, regardless of the interests of the other countries, indicating the failure of the American mediation, which aimed to reach an agreement between Ethiopia, Egypt, and Sudan.
